War Ends

After the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944-January 1945, it would not be long until Germany would be conquered and forced to capitulate. On the Western Front, the allies continued their offensive toward the German Fatherland. The U. S. Ninth Army crossed the Rhine River into Germany on February 26, 1945 and Patton's Third Army crossed the Rhine. On the Western Front, the Soviet Army continued its offensive that began after the Battle of Kursk in 1943, which resulted in the capture of Berlin on May 2, 1945, two days after Hitler committed suicide.     (MORE)
