you all possible facilities within its authority for the prosecution of your inquiries. To this end all generals and other officers commanding confederate forces are hereby requested to allow you full and free passage into and within our lines and encampments, &c., and are furthermore requested to furnish you with free transportation tickets to and from all the points visited by you in the departments to which your investigations are directed are instructed especially to furnish you with all information with regard to the condition, regulations, &c., of their several departments which may be deemed necessary by you for the successful prosecution of your investigations.
