All quiet. No enemy's camps in immediate front. No change since yesterday p. m. The enemy are busy building winter quarters. Some sort of a machine at work at the canal at Dutch Gap. I can see the pits of the enemy's picket-line. They appear to be continued. They are nearer our front than their first advance. Mounted men are passing up and down the river. Forty wagons passed in rear of Battery D, going to our right. Steamer just passed down the river.
