COLONEL: In accordance with Special Orders, Numbers 54. issued by the commander in chief Kansas militia, dated adjutant- general's office, Topeka, May 21, 1864, a copy of which is herewith inclosed,* I respectfully request that you immediately call into active service four companies of the militia of your regiment, to be commanded by yourself or a field officer detailed by you, and to be stationed according to directions from these headquarters. You will please have them report of service for the period of thirty days, unless sooner discharged.
