How strongly manned their line of battle is here we cannot tell without an assault in force. Colonel Miles is of opinion that their works are manned by a line of battle in his immediate front.

Anderson's division is on the extreme left, in front of the Sixth Corps; Breckinridge is next, and I judge then that Wilcox and the other part of Hil's corps came in, as we took prisoners from Wilcox in that position all yesterday. This is from the examination of prisoners just received.

GENERAL: General Owen reports that his skirmishers are as far forward as they can go. He reports the enemy stronger than he supposed in his front and left front, and that his men are being killed and wounded in some cases in his line of battle. I have directed that, wherever it is practicable, sharpshooters be pushed forward. The firing in Warren's front appears to advance.
