COLONEL: I have the honor to state from information received from the front this p.m. that General Hagood with four regiments and a battery left James Island, S. C., on the 5th instant. I respectfully request that this information be furnished Brigadier General J. P. Hatch, commanding Department of the South.

They will move in light marching order and be supplied with 60 rounds of ammunition, 40 in boxes and 20 on the person. They will be supplied with two days' rations in haversacks.
