XXXIX. Brigadier General John S. Williams, Provisional Army, C. S., is relieved from duty in the Department of East Tennessee, and will proceed to Dalton, Ga., and report to General Joseph E. Johnston, commanding, &c., for assignment to the brigade of Kentucky cavalry now commanded by Colonel J. W. Grigsby, of Sixth Regiment Kentucky Cavalry.

XL. The First,* Fifty-fourth, and Fifty-seventh Regiments Georgia Volunteers will proceed by railroad, under the command of Brigadier General H. W. Mercer, to Dalton, Ga., and report to General Joseph E. Johnston, commanding, &c., to relieve the Fifth, Forty-seventh, and Fifty-fifth Regiments Georgia Volunteers.

The last-named regiments, under the command of Brigadier General J. K. Jackson, will proceed by railroad to Savannah, Ga., as they are successively relieved.
