Admiral FARRAGUT:

The paroled prisoners have come in. The estimate I made of the strength of the enemy before you left here is fully confirmed. They are estimated at 13,00, with numerous artillery. They are slowly but steadily advancing on this place, making strong fortifications at all the passes.
