Series I, Volume XX is broken down into two parts concerning operations in Kentucky, Middle and East Tennessee, Northern Alabama, and Southwest Virginia from November 1, 1862 to January 20, 1863. Part one contains reports from Brigadier General James S. Negley of the Union Army; and General Braxton Bragg and Brigadier Nathan Bedford Forrest of the Confederate Army concerning a small action at Nashville, TN. A major portion of this volume is the Stone's River Campaign, AKA the Murfreesborough (Murfreesboro) Campaign with reports by Major General William S. Rosencrans and Brigadier General Philip H. Sheridan of the Union Arm and Generals Joseph E. Johnston and Braxton Bragg of the Confederate Army. Part Two Contains correspondence for the Murfreesborough (Murfreesboro) Campaign.
