Lexington and Concord

First engagement of the war. British general Thomas Gage sent Lieutenant Colonel Smith to capture the patriot leaders and military stores at Concord. In Lexington a small minuteman force was assembled but they failed to stop Smith's column. The British forces moved onto Concord were a force of about 400 patriots forced the British to retreat to Boston.
