The American Home Front

Going to work or joining the military were not the only sacrifices made during the war. The government instituted a rationing policy limiting the amount of sugar, meat, rubber tires, gasoline, etc., etc., people were permitted to buy or consume each week, month, or year. Rationing books were issued, and each time a purchase was made, a stamp was removed. Once all the stamps had been torn out, that person or family had used its allotment of that particular product.
