HistoryList - The Best Tanks of WWII

The Best Tanks of WWII
  Tank Model/Series Notes
1 T-34 Series (T34/85 being the best) Good armour(angled), simple, cheap, good suspension, wide tracks for snow/mud.
2 Tiger I Heavily armoured, good hitting power, main armament outranged most allied tanks, a bit underpowered, mechanically complicated compared to russian vehicles
3 Panther G Excellent medium tank, possibly the best. good armour, weapons and power
4 IS-2 Just about a match for Tiger I
5 Tiger II H The King!! Only major drawback was engine power and at times the massive weight. Could really lay a spankin' on those shermans
6 Sherman Firefly Major drawbacks: gasoline engine that was easily brewed up. a bit weak on the armour but had a excellent main armament. Mechanically reliable.
7 Comet Low sillouette, good armour, excellent gun. Very capable of taking on the german heavies, especially when A.P.D.S. ammo was introduced
8 Churchill MK VII Thick armour and low sillouette. Decent armament, versitile
9 Pzkpfw IV ausf. F2 through H While not particularily outstanding in armour, it was fast and versitile and relitively easy to produce, maintain and operate. It had a decent main gun and was favoured by crews.
10 Jagdpanther While technically a Self-propelled gun, I would include it on the list because it was an excellent defensive/ambush weapon. Actually there were a number of Russian SPG's that could compete as well.
