12 May Operation Imperial Lake ended in which 305 VC/NVA were killed while Marines had 24 killed.

4 June The 3d MAB turned over its last piece of real estate in Vietnam, Camp Books, to the U.S. Army.

9 June Lieutenant General W. G. Dolvin, USA, relieved Lieutenant Gener�al J. W. Sutherland, USA, as Commanding General, XXIV Corps. 21 June American troop strength in RVN was down to 244,900.

26 June The 3d MAB closed its headquarters.

27 June The 3d MAB was deactivated.
