15 February 1971 The following 5th Special Forces Group units were inactivated in Vietnam: the 21st Military History Detachment, 31st Engineers Detachment, and the 588th, 613th, 634th, 641st, and 703d Military Intelligence Detachments.

15 February 1971 All 5th Special Forces Group elements completed turn-in of equipment. 5th Special Forces Group honor guard was selected and began preparations for the redeployment ceremony.

21 February 1971 5th Special Forces Group received official notification from United States Army, Vietnam, that redeployment would occur on 1 March 1971.

24 February 1971 5th Special Forces Group redeployment farewell ceremony was conducted at the Special Forces operation base in Nha Trang.

28 February 1971 5th Special Forces Group operation base was transferred to United States Army, Vietnam.

1 March 1971 5th Special Forces Group honor guard left Nha Trang Air Base for continental United States.
