Top, a Marine infantryman takes a brief nap in his covered overhead hunker, protecting him from incoming artillery and mortar rounds. Be/on: the photograph is an overrieu' of the 1st Battalion, 2(ith Marines hunker defenses along the western perimeter of the base. The Marines had come under criticism for not "digging in."
