He raised this company, and the 35th served with Fremont in the fall of 1861, and in the spring of 1862 was with Generals Curtis and Sigel at the Battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas. Henry's company suffered heavy loss in this campaign. Later, the Regiment moved on Batesville, Arkansas, and then back, under General Jefferson C. Davis, to Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The Regiment then participated in the Seige of Corinth. From here, they went on to Holly Springs, Mississippi, where they were attached to the Army of the Tennessee. Captain Henry was forced to resign at this point on account of ill health, and returning to Vandalia, resumed his law practice.
