Some of our Service Projects

  • Adopt -A-Highway cleanups on roads throughout the battlefield.
  • Recondition and maintain Park trench signs on Wilderness Battlefield.
  • Recondition and maintain Park interpretive markers on the Wilderness Battlefield.
  • Recondition and maintain Park monuments and cannon on the Wilderness Battlefield.
  • Maintenance of trails and earthworks on the Wilderness Battlefield.
  • Rebuilt over thirty "foot" bridges on Wilderness Battlefield with lumber obtained through a grant from Georgia Pacific.
  • Raised money to help purchase four interpretive panels placed at Willis Hill on the Fredericksburg Battlefield.
  • Won a grant from the American Battlefield Protection Program to erect three interpretive panels at Grants Knoll. (Grant’s headquarters during the Battle of the Wilderness).
  • Created access to Grant’s Knoll. (Previously not accessible)
  • Placed five interpretive panels at Ellwood (General Warren’s, Crawford’s and Burnside’s headquarters during the Battle of the Wilderness).
  • Cleaning and painting of Wilderness Exhibit Shelter on route 20 in Orange County.
  • Conducted fund raising with proceeds donated to Central Virginia Battlefields Trust for battlefield land acquisition.
  • Grounds and site maintenance at Ellwood (Lacy House).
  • Removal of non-historic structures at the Ellwood (Lacy House) site.
  • Creation of parking areas at Ellwood (Lacy House) site.
