Brannan's Expeditionary Force was 2 infantry regiments, an artillery battery and a detachment of cavalry (total force 1,573); the Confederate garrison was a small artillery and cavalry force.

Casualties are unknown.

Brig. Gen. John Finegan established a battery on St. John' s Bluff near Jacksonville to stop the movement of Federal ships up the St. Johns Ri St. John's Bluff
