You will see that we have moved again and I am farther from home than ever before. On the 19th inst. three companies started from Dechard, Tenn. to guard some of the 11th Corps train over the Cumberland Mountains, and the other seven companies started on a march. I was with the seven companies and marched all of the way from Dechard to this place, where we arrived yesterday. We marched about forty miles over the mountains. There were no homes along our line of march. The weather was rainy and cold.
I hope we will rest for a while and then I will write you longer letters.
