I have just received your long-expected letter. You cannot imagine how much pleasure it gave me to hear from you and that you enjoyed your visit to Troy and arrived home safely. I am pleased you had your photograph taken I shall expect one in your next letter. I am sorry that you could not get Ella's taken.
Now my dear, I do not want you to give yourself any uneasiness about me. My health is about the same and if I do not regain it I shall resign and go home as I can do no good in staying in the army. But if I do regain it I intend to stay until the war closes.
I have received a letter from Lieutenant Culver who remains at Rickers Island, N. Y. He writes me to send A. H. Wells' description list when I get to the Company,- that is, if I should get back before he does. I have written him today.
