Ok, you might think this is sick, but World War Two is my
hobby and I was clued into your page by a WW Two web site
page. I am also a history student, with a BA in history
AND a prior marine and now a Sgt. in the National Guard
with 19 years of service.
I write in reaction to your wonderful web page for your
father. He writes a story of carnage....
I think that he is exonerated b/c what happened was WAR.
We suffered a dead soldier, and we destroyed a village
somewhere in Germany. NOW that sounds horrible...but we
are armed with 20/20 vision and at the time, when they
made the decision, they only had the information on hand-
-what else could have been in that village? More German
soldiers willing to die for a lost cause?ÊÊWar is filled
with making choices that are bad to avoid making choices
that are worse. It is that are bad to avoid making
choices that are worse.
Tell your father that they did the best they could and
that they did the right thing given the circumstances
