Emperor Hirohito
Emperor Hirohito - (Japan)

Considered a living god by his people, Hirohito assumed the Japanese throne in 1926. Even though he was head of Japan, he was unable, or unwilling, to control the Japanese military. However, in 1945, after the United States dropped two atomic bombs on his country, he persuaded the military to surrender in order to save his nation further ruin. While the Allies had demanded unconditional surrender, Hirohito was allowed to keep his title and position as emperor
