Wartime

William Turner was drafted into the army air force during WWII, and was sent to Europe via a troop carrier over the north Atlantic. Because of his recognized artistic abilities, he was given the role of a military artist in a special services unit. One assignment was to work on army education. Turner produced a series of posters for which he received a joint commendation from Brigadier General Morris Berman in January 1945.
