Historical discussion: Much as the war created job opportunities for women, the war forced employers to rethink other discriminatory hiring practices.  Propaganda called on workers of all races to set aside differences for the war effort.  While racial prejudice was by no means defeated during the war, the need for labor expanded employment opportunities for African Americans, Native Americans, and Mexican Americans.
