Children and Work

This July 13, 1912 Woman's Journal cartoon makes a very explicit point: women need the right to vote so they can save other women from prostitution ("white slavery") and create better working conditions for all workers, especially for children.

What are the most effective parts of this cartoon? How would you describe the women and children huddled behind the statuesque woman appealing for the vote? What are these people wearing?
