Pressure for Trust-Busting

Roosevelt faced political and popular pressures to act against the trusts.  This cartoon, scanned from the Republican Judge March 4, 1905), is an example of a call to act, in this case against the tobacco trust.  In fact, in 1911 the Supreme Court ordered American Tobacco broken up into smaller firms.
