Specializing in diplomatic history, John explores in his thesis how Arctic sovereignty issues shaped Canada’s negotiations with the United States about the establishment of the Distant Early Warning Line (DEW Line), a radar chain constructed in the Canadian Arctic during the 1950s to detect and deter potential nuclear attacks by the Soviet Union.
Currently, John is completing his Magister Artium at the Freie Universität Berlin.
