About Mansel Blackford: Mansel G. Blackford works in the field of business history in the Department of History of The Ohio State University. He is the author, most recently, of Fragile Paradise: The Impact of Tourism on Maui, 1959-2000 (2001), Pathways to the Present: U.S. Development and Its Consequences in the Pacific (2007), and The Rise of Modern Business: Great Britain, the United States, Germany, Japan, and China (2008). He is currently writing Fishers and Over-Fishing: Experiences in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, 1976-2006. His father was a pioneer in the development of Alaska's king crab industry as the captain of the Deep Sea, a combined trawler-processor, in the 1940s and 1950s. e-mail this member |
