Frederic Thesiger

General Frederic Augustus Thesiger, 2nd Baron Chelmsford was general of the British forces at the Battle of Isandlwana (January 22, 1879) during the Anglo-Zulu War- a battle that is considered one of the British Army's worst ever defeat.  He would later redeem himself by leading British forces to victory at the Battle of Ulundi (July 4, 1879) and ending the Anglo-Zulu War. 

Thesiger was also known for his roles in the Crimean War and the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
